Getting a 3 marla naqsha right
Build up, not out
On 3 marla, a third floor or a half-storey on the roof often adds more useful space than squeezing the ground floor. Check your area’s height and floor limits first.
Place the stairs carefully
A straight flight along one side wall keeps the rooms regular. A stair in the middle of the plot can split a small house into awkward pieces.
Light from above
Narrow plots are often closed on three sides. A skylight or a small shaft over the stairs brings daylight and ventilation into the middle of the house.
